To budget for Limpio, add three costs to the rent that weigh more here than elsewhere: the daily commute to Asunción along Ruta PY03, the risk of flooding when the local streams overflow, and the time public healthcare takes. Limpio sits about 19 km from the capital and grew along the PY03 (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)), and land is still cheaper than in Asunción (InfoNegocios, 2026 (opens in a new tab)).

What income to plan around

Since 1 July 2026 Paraguay's minimum wage is G. 3,044,000 a month (ABC Color, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Salaried workers pay 9 % into IPS, the social security fund (ABC Color, 2022 (opens in a new tab)), leaving G. 2,770,040 on the minimum wage. Use the net figure as the ceiling for fixed costs, and log two weeks of real spending before you set your numbers.

Where to live and how much to commit to housing

  • Areas: Paraguay's real estate chamber (Capadei) sees activity in Isla Aveiro, Rincón del Peñón, Piquete Cué and Salado, mainly along the corridors to Asunción, with gated communities and apartment projects joining the usual plots (InfoNegocios, Sept 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Choose a spot near the bus line you will use every day.
  • Renting: there is no specific tenancy law; the deposit is usually one month, a lease with no term is presumed to run one year, and there is no cap on increases (InfoNegocios, 2025 (opens in a new tab)). Put the adjustment rule and who pays for repairs in writing.
  • Buying: the Che Róga Porã housing loan charges 6.5 % for incomes of 1 to 6 minimum wages (version 2.0) and 9.9 % for 6 to 9 (version 3.0), over up to 30 years (Última Hora, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Compare the instalment with your rent. If you are picking an area, see our guide to real estate agencies in Limpio.

Does the house flood when it rains?

This question saves the most money. In April 2024 the Itay and Damián streams overflowed: in Piquete Cué the Prefectura evacuated residents by boat, the Surubi'i overpass was blocked and the mayor said over 70 % of the city was under water (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). Visit the house after heavy rain, ask neighbours how high the water came, and keep a reserve to repair or replace furniture and appliances.

What the commute to Asunción costs

  • Bus: in May 2026 the government aimed to hold fares at G. 2,300 on conventional buses and G. 3,400 on air-conditioned "diferencial" buses (Última Hora, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). A return trip 22 days a month is 44 fares: G. 101,200 conventional or G. 149,600 diferencial. Double it if you change buses.
  • At night: since December 2025 the Búho B2 night bus links Asunción and Limpio via Avenida San José and the PY03 (La Nación (opens in a new tab)); the Búho network runs 22:00 to 03:30 (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). It saves a ride-hail fare after a late shift.
  • Car: work out real kilometres at the day's fuel price and allow extra time: in April 2026 parked trucks caused a 5–6 km queue between central Limpio and Mariano Roque Alonso (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)).

Where to save on food and electricity

How much to set aside for health

Public healthcare is free but costs you time. Limpio has 20 family health units (USF) across the city (Ministry of Health, 2025 (opens in a new tab)): start with your local one for check-ups and prescriptions. The Hospital Distrital de Limpio handles about 25,000 visits a month and offers emergency care, maternity, lab tests, X-ray and ultrasound, among other services (Ministry of Health, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Still budget for medicines and the odd private test. More in doctors and medical centres in Limpio.
