To choose a security company in Limpio, first check that it is licensed by Paraguay's National Police, then compare the specifics: what equipment it installs, who watches the alerts, where the response comes from and how long it takes to reach your barrio, and where your camera footage is stored. For most houses a monitored alarm plus a few well-placed cameras is enough; a full-time guard makes more sense for shops, warehouses and gated communities.
Alarm, cameras or a guard?
- Monitored alarm: door, window and yard sensors linked to a control centre that calls you when it goes off. The most common choice for homes.
- Cameras: good for seeing what happens and keeping a record, but on their own they stop nobody. They work best with an alarm and an off-site backup of the recordings.
- Guard: worth it for a shop or warehouse on Ruta PY03, an apartment building or a gated community. The guard must come from a licensed firm and carry ID.
- Equipment only, no monitoring: cheaper each month, but when the alarm sounds the response is up to you and your neighbours.
Check the licence first
Private security in Paraguay is overseen by the National Police (ABC Color, 2023 (opens in a new tab)), through a department that licenses companies, issues guard credentials and enforces Law 5424/2015 (opens in a new tab) (Hoy, 2022 (opens in a new tab)). To operate, a firm needs a licensing resolution from Police headquarters; requirements include being a registered company with its own premises, life insurance for guards and patrol vehicles (La Nación, 2023 (opens in a new tab)).
With an informal outfit you have no guarantee that staff are trained or that your data is protected, and an outside technician may keep access to your cameras (Hoy, 2022 (opens in a new tab)). Ask for the licence resolution number and check it with the police before you sign.
What is different about Limpio
Limpio sits about 19 km from Asunción, grew along Ruta PY03 (the Transchaco) and has barrios far apart from each other, from Piquete Cue and Isla Aveiro near the river to Rincón del Peñón, Salado and Mbayué (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). That matters when you compare:
- Where the response comes from. Not every firm that covers Limpio is based there. Ask where the patrol or technician leaves from and how long it takes to your barrio at rush hour, when PY03 is jammed. The Mariano Roque Alonso–Limpio stretch has viaducts and a roundabout (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)), so crossing from one side of the highway to the other is not always quick.
- Footage stored off-site. In the early hours of New Year's Day 2026, a Limpio family who had gone out to celebrate lost more than G. 70 million, and the thieves took the CCTV footage to erase evidence (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). Insist that recordings are backed up to the cloud or to a hidden recorder, not just a box in plain sight.
- Connected neighbours. In February 2026 a Limpio neighbour spotted an armed group climbing a ladder into a house, confronted them and alerted others; they fled, and CCTV caught it all (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). A street WhatsApp group and a camera that also covers the street go a long way.
- Where to report. The New Year's case was reported at Limpio's Comisaría 67ª (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). Keep that next to 911.
How to compare quotes
Paraguay's consumer law, Law 1334/98 (opens in a new tab), requires service providers to tell you the description of the work, materials, price including taxes, payment terms and how long the quote is valid (art. 15); any warranty offered must be in writing (art. 11). Ask two or three firms for:
- The same list of zones: doors, windows, yard, gate and garage.
- Installation and monthly fee listed separately, and whether the equipment is yours or on loan.
- What happens when it goes off: who they call, in what order, and whether they send someone or only notify you.
- Contract length and the cost of cancelling early.
- If a guard is included: shifts and cover. In 2023 guards worked 12-hour shifts, according to the sector's union (ABC Color, 2023 (opens in a new tab)); ask how days off are covered.
Before you pay for installation
- Test every sensor, the siren and the phone alerts with the technician present.
- Ask how long the backup battery lasts in a power cut.
- Change the camera and app passwords, and ask who else has access.
- Write down the control centre number, 911 and your police station on paper.
- Get a legal invoice (factura) and a signed contract showing the firm's licence number.
FAQ
How do I know a security company is licensed?
Firms are licensed by a resolution from National Police headquarters. Ask the company for that resolution number and check it with the police before signing.
Alarm or guard for a house in Limpio?
A monitored alarm with a few cameras is usually enough for a home. A full-time guard pays off for shops or warehouses on PY03, buildings and gated communities.
What must a security quote include?
Under art. 15 of Law 1334/98: description of the service, materials, price including taxes, payment terms and quote validity. Any warranty must be in writing.
How do I protect my camera footage?
Ask for cloud backup or a hidden recorder. In a New Year's burglary in Limpio, the thieves took the CCTV footage.
