To shop for clothes in Limpio, decide first what you need: everyday wear, a party outfit, school uniform or sportswear. Boutiques and neighbourhood shops work for a special piece or a quick buy near home; for sportswear and brands, the newest option is Plaza Norte, on Ruta PY03 opposite the Abasto Norte market (opens in a new tab). Before heading out, message the shop to confirm your size and opening hours.
Boutique, neighbourhood shop or brand store?
Limpio has three kinds of clothing shop, each good for something different:
- Boutique: hand-picked pieces, few units per size and personal service. The choice for a quinceañera, a wedding or a gift. Many show their stock on Instagram or WhatsApp status: ask them to hold your size before you go.
- Neighbourhood clothing shop (ropería): lower prices, everyday and children's clothes, direct service and sometimes alterations on site.
- Brand or sports store: more sizes, marked prices and clearer exchange rules. Useful for trainers, gym wear and basics.
If you are buying for the whole family, start with the bigger store and save the boutique for the special piece.
Where to buy clothes in Limpio
Limpio sits about 19 km from Asunción and grew along Ruta PY03 (opens in a new tab), so the best area depends on where you live.
- Ruta PY03 and Plaza Norte: the city's first large shopping centre opened in July 2025. At the opening, ABC Color listed brands such as Meta Sports and Sport House (opens in a new tab), handy for sportswear and footwear. It has parking for 320 cars and 30 motorbikes (opens in a new tab).
- Centro: around the San José parish church and Plaza Silvestre Aveiro you find the long-standing shops. It is the area to browse several stores on foot in a morning.
- Barrios: in Piquete Cue, El Peñón, Salado, San Marcos or Pilar del Norte there are small shops and sellers who work from home or through social media. For something urgent, they are often the fastest.
If you work in Asunción or Mariano Roque Alonso, compare with what is on your commute; it can be easier than crossing Limpio after work.
When are the sales?
Big markdowns come at the end of each season, when stock switches between summer and winter. Plaza Norte, for example, ran its "Rebajas de Plaza" sale from 17 to 19 July 2026 (opens in a new tab), during its anniversary month, with participating stores. Sales mean better prices but fewer sizes: if yours is hard to find, do not wait until the last day.
The weather shapes what is on the racks too: in Limpio summer highs approach 40 °C and winter lows can drop near 0 °C (opens in a new tab). Autumn is the time to buy warm clothes while every size is still in stock.
What to ask about exchanges and alterations
Exchanges for size or colour are up to each shop, so ask before paying:
- How many days do I have to exchange, and under what conditions (tags on, receipt)?
- Can sale items be exchanged?
- Do you do hems or alterations, and how long do they take?
- If buying via Instagram or WhatsApp: who pays delivery if the size has to be swapped?
Always ask for the factura (official receipt). If an item is faulty or the shop does not keep its word, Paraguay's Consumer Protection Law 1334 applies, and SEDECO takes complaints online (opens in a new tab) and resolves them through conciliation, with exchange, refund or repair.
How people pay
QR reached 64% of digital payments in December 2025 (opens in a new tab), and shops are among the businesses using it. Ask whether there is a bank promotion that day: card cashback deals are common in malls. At small shops or street fairs, carry cash.
Looking for something typical of Limpio?
Limpio is known for its karanda'y palm hats and crafts (opens in a new tab), woven into hats, bags and baskets. For a summer hat or a gift with local character, buy directly from the artisans and bring cash.
