If you want a boutique hotel in Asunción, the most practical area is the city's northeast: Villa Morra and Las Lomas (Carmelitas), with malls, restaurants and main avenues a few blocks away. Three options with details from more than one source: Nino Hotel Boutique, in a former spinning mill in Villa Morra; Las Lomas Casa Hotel, a house-style hotel near Shopping del Sol; and La Misión Hotel Boutique, a themed hotel with a restaurant and rooftop pool.
Villa Morra or Carmelitas: where to stay?
- Villa Morra is in northeastern Asunción, in the La Recoleta district, bounded by Avenida España, San Martín, Mariscal López and Santísimo Sacramento. It is home to Paseo Carmelitas, Paseo Mangoré and Villa Morra Shopping (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). The best base if you want to walk to dinner.
- Las Lomas, better known as Carmelitas, is a mostly residential barrio in the Santísima Trinidad district, with shops along Avenida Molas López and Aviadores del Chaco and Avenida San Martín as its southern edge. The Central Bank of Paraguay and Parque Urbano Asunción are here, and bus lines 37, 16, 28 and 7 run along its main streets (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). Quieter at night and close to the business district.
For a night out, Paseo Carmelitas (opens in a new tab) is on Avenida España at Malutín.
Three boutique hotels and how they differ
Nino Hotel Boutique, Gral. Eugenio A. Garay 430, Villa Morra. Eleven suites in the restored shell of an old spinning mill, with private parking for guests. The hotel itself says it has no restaurant, though several are a few minutes away (official site (opens in a new tab)). Trip.com (opens in a new tab) lists an outdoor pool, check-in from 14:00 and check-out by 11:00, and puts it about a 10-minute walk from Shopping Mariscal and Villa Morra Shopping. InfoNegocios (2020) (opens in a new tab) reported that the building was the América Textil factory and has an Italian-style garden and a guests-only gym. A good fit if you want quiet and don't mind going out to eat.
Las Lomas Casa Hotel, Narciso Colmán 1909, barrio Las Lomas. Check-in 14:00, check-out 11:00, free parking and buffet breakfast; the hotel says it is two blocks from the financial district and under 20 minutes from the airport (official site (opens in a new tab)). InfoNegocios (2020) (opens in a new tab) placed it near Shopping del Sol, with 18 rooms including a wheelchair-accessible room, a kitchenette in the classic room, and a garden. Suits business trips and longer stays.
La Misión Hotel Boutique, Dr. Eulogio Estigarribia 4990 at San Roque González, in what the hotel calls Asunción's new downtown. It bills itself as the city's first themed hotel, inspired by the Jesuit missions, with the Paraqvaria restaurant, a rooftop pool and terrace, gym, private parking, complimentary breakfast and 24-hour room service (official site (opens in a new tab)). Great Small Hotels (opens in a new tab) lists 36 rooms, says parking must be reserved, and puts the airport 11 km away. The pick if you want everything under one roof.
Getting there from the airport
Silvio Pettirossi International Airport is in Luque, to the northeast, so Villa Morra and Carmelitas are on the right side of town. Even so, the airport access is among the most congested routes into Asunción at peak hours (La Nación, February 2026 (opens in a new tab)): on a weekday morning or evening flight, leave with time to spare. La Misión offers private transfers (official site (opens in a new tab)); at the other two, ask when you book.
What to confirm before you pay
- Parking: all three have it, but at La Misión it must be reserved. Say if you are arriving by car.
- Late arrival: check-in starts at 14:00 at Nino and Las Lomas. If you land in the small hours, get in writing who will let you in.
- Meals: Las Lomas includes a buffet breakfast, La Misión offers complimentary breakfast, and Nino has no restaurant of its own.
- Pool and air conditioning: Asunción summers are hot; if the pool is the deciding factor, confirm it is open on your dates.
- Final rate: ask for the total price with taxes and breakfast in writing before you transfer money.
