Staying in Luque makes sense when your trip revolves around Silvio Pettirossi Airport, an event at CONMEBOL or an early flight: the airport sits at the city's entrance, about 10 minutes from Asunción (La Nación, 2021 (opens in a new tab)). If you came to explore the capital on foot, a hotel in Asunción works better. Before booking, get the total price, parking and your route to the airport at flight time in writing.

Which part of Luque to stay in

  • CONMEBOL and airport area: Avenida Sudamericana is home to CONMEBOL's headquarters, its convention centre and the South American Football Museum (El Litoral, 2022 (opens in a new tab)). This is the area for an early flight, a conference or a match.
  • Autopista Silvio Pettirossi: on the way to the airport is the Plaza Madero mall, at the corner with Torokay (La Nación, 2021 (opens in a new tab)), which opened with late-night restaurants and a 24-hour supermarket (Hoy, 2021 (opens in a new tab)). If you land late, you have somewhere to eat or shop.
  • Historic centre: around Plaza General Aquino and the pedestrian street, for walking among the filigree jewellers and the church. More ideas in our guide to planning a day in Luque.

Large hotels near the airport

Near the airport you will find many apartments and duplexes by the night. SENATUR, the tourism ministry, requires anyone regularly renting accommodation via platforms or social media to join the national tourism register (La Nación, 2024 (opens in a new tab)) and recommends checking Registur before booking (La Nación, 2024 (opens in a new tab)). If the host is not listed, ask why before transferring money. Also ask who hands over the keys if you arrive in the small hours and whether parking is enclosed.

Getting to the airport on time

  • Ride-hailing: Uber Reserve lets you book up to 90 days ahead and cancel free up to one hour before; fares from the airport are not fixed (Uber (opens in a new tab)). For very early flights, book the night before.
  • Roadworks: the widening of Avenida General Aquino (Tape Tuja) is due to finish in the first half of 2027 (La Nación, 2026 (opens in a new tab)), and the Las Residentas corridor has detours (ABC Color, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Check traffic in your maps app the night before and add a buffer.
  • Heavy rain: in the storm of 16 March 2026, Tape Tuja, the centre and Avenida Nanawa flooded, among other areas (ABC Color, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). If a storm is forecast, leave earlier.
  • Ask the hotel: whether it runs its own shuttle, when it leaves and what it costs.

What to ask before paying a deposit

  • Total price including taxes: Paraguay's consumer law (Ley 1334 (opens in a new tab)) requires prices to include taxes. Ask whether breakfast is included and when it starts, in case you have an early flight.
  • Late arrival or early departure: get written confirmation that reception is staffed then, and whether you can leave luggage after check-out.
  • Noise: ask for a room away from the avenue.
  • Cancellation: what happens to the deposit if your flight changes.
  • Invoice: every sale must come with a factura (Sedeco via ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). Travelling for work? Give your company's tax ID when booking.
