In this guide
In Caaguazú, the best family spots are in two places: in town, pool parks such as Aqua Landia Delfines Park and the Techapyrâ complex; and on the road towards Ciudad del Este, the camps and beaches on Lake Yguazú. For a short afternoon, Plaza Bartolomé Aquino and the Inmaculada Concepción church in the centre are enough.
What to do with kids in Caaguazú
Aqua Landia Delfines Park. It is on Ruta PY13, one kilometre from the km 185 roundabout at Toro Blanco. It has a big pool with pirate ships, an aquarium, giant insect sculptures for photos, a restaurant and cabins for five. In January 2024 it opened from 08:30 to 18:00, with weekday entry at G. 25,000 for children and G. 35,000 for adults, a little more at weekends and on holidays (ABC Color, 2024 (opens in a new tab)).
Techapyrâ tourist complex. In the San José Apeputy neighbourhood, about 3 km from Ruta PY02. According to ABC Color (2021), it has a dinosaur park you tour on a small train, a zip line of about 200 metres, a 50-metre suspension bridge and a pool; it opened every day from 08:30 to 18:30, with entry at G. 35,000 for adults and G. 25,000 for children (ABC Color, 2021 (opens in a new tab)).
- Tip: the pool is the main event at both. Bring sunscreen, flip-flops and a change of clothes; in summer, arrive at opening time to get shade.
A quiet afternoon in the centre
Plaza Bartolomé Aquino. The city's main square (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)): room for kids to run around, a tereré break and a snack nearby.
Inmaculada Concepción church. Built in 1965 by Franciscans, it is the main parish (La Nación (opens in a new tab)). The Virgin of the Immaculate Conception is Caaguazú's patron saint (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)), so her feast day is a city-wide celebration.
Futsal games. Caaguazú has a fully roofed 7,000-seat stadium that hosts national futsal and handball championships, and the Gobernación's coliseum is also a futsal venue (La Nación (opens in a new tab)). A game makes a good evening out with older kids. Club Deportivo Caaguazú plays home matches at Estadio Bosque Grande (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)).
"Caaguazú Lee" book fair. Organised by the departmental government since 2003 (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)); follow its social media for this year's date.
Beaches and lakes nearby for a family day
Lake Yguazú lies east of the city, towards Ciudad del Este, with several complexes for a day out (ABC Color, 2024 (opens in a new tab)):
- Campamento Lago La O (Satî, Raúl Arsenio Oviedo district): beach, volleyball, grills and camping. In 2024 it opened 08:00 to 20:00; G. 25,000 from age 11 and G. 10,000 for ages 5 to 10.
- Living Spring (José Domingo Ocampos district): two pools, an artificial stream and camping. G. 35,000 per person in 2024.

Tip: the lake is busiest on summer Sundays. Go early on a Saturday if you can and bring a cool box with water; grills are rented and not always free.
A farm with animals
Granja Ecoturística Yvambopí, in Potrero Ubaldina, about 1,500 metres from km 152 of the PY02, technically in Coronel Oviedo (ABC Color, 2021 (opens in a new tab)). It has a mini zoo, canoe rides, fishing and goat-milk products, and opened Tuesday to Sunday according to a 2016 article (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). Call ahead, as that information is old.
A family day, planned
