To work from a café in Asunción, choose the area first: the downtown core if you have meetings or errands in the centre, Villa Morra if you move between offices and malls. Downtown, Kaffe'i opens every day and lists Wi-Fi and air conditioning; in Villa Morra, El Café de Acá and El Café de Porfirio add parking. Go early in the morning or mid-afternoon, the quietest times (Infonegocios (opens in a new tab)).

Downtown or Villa Morra?

  • Microcentro and the historic centre: handy for a session between meetings or errands. Parking is the catch: neither downtown café in this guide lists it.
  • Villa Morra: bounded by Avenida España, San Martín, Mariscal López and Santísimo Sacramento in the La Recoleta district, it mixes housing with shops, services and restaurants, including Paseo Carmelitas, Paseo Mangoré and Villa Morra Shopping (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). Best if your next meeting is nearby.

In August 2025, Infonegocios (opens in a new tab) reported that Asunción's cafés had become improvised offices for young professionals, students and freelancers. That means full tables at peak times, so keep a backup a few blocks away.

Work cafés downtown

Kaffe'i (Palma 438, microcentro). A specialty café and micro-roastery. It opens Monday to Friday 7:00–20:00 and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 9:00–20:00, with Wi-Fi, air conditioning and card payment (Senatur (opens in a new tab); Kaffe'i (opens in a new tab)). In 2025 it became the first Paraguayan café named among South America's top 100 (ABC Color (opens in a new tab); La Nación (opens in a new tab)). The safest pick if you need to stay into the evening or work on a holiday.

Casa Clari (Ayolas 129, Manzana de la Rivera). A café-bar inside the Manzana de la Rivera cultural centre, with a terrace behind the Palacio de los López. When it reopened in 2023 it opened Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 and said the space was ready for anyone wanting to work there (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)); La Nación (opens in a new tab) called it a gem of the historic centre. Those reports do not mention Wi-Fi, so ask for the password on arrival and save it for a quiet afternoon rather than a key call.

Work cafés in Villa Morra

El Café de Acá (Teniente Héctor Vera 1390). A favourite with locals and visitors, with a second branch in the Textilia complex in barrio Jara (La Nación (opens in a new tab)). The national tourism office lists Wi-Fi, air conditioning, parking, reservations and card payment, and suggests it for work meetings (Senatur (opens in a new tab)). Book if you are meeting someone: brunch hour gets busy.

El Café de Porfirio (on Dugraty, Villa Morra). A café and cultural space run by the Busto family, with walls, ceilings and tables covered in the artist's work (La Nación (opens in a new tab)). It lists Wi-Fi, air conditioning, parking and card payment, and serves specialty coffee, mbejú and chipa (Senatur (opens in a new tab)). Good for creative work; for a long call, pick a table away from the occasional cultural events.

None of these sources publishes hours for El Café de Acá or El Café de Porfirio, so message them on social media before going.

Hours, heat and payment

Before you settle in

  • Run a speed test before a video call: being listed with Wi-Fi does not guarantee speed.
  • Sit near a socket and ask whether staying several hours is fine.
  • Order something every so often if you stay all afternoon.
  • Bring headphones: the espresso machine and the lunch rush are loud.
