For Japanese food in Asunción you have clear options: sushi with reservations at Almacén de Sushi (Charles de Gaulle 456), traditional Japanese cooking at Hiroshima (Av. Choferes del Chaco 1803), late sushi and delivery at Unaghi (Cruz del Chaco 830), or the Friday all-you-can-eat sushi lunch at Rich Sushi. If you want more than dinner, the Nihon Matsuri on Saturday 24 October 2026 brings Japanese food and culture together in Luque.

Where to eat sushi and Japanese food in Asunción

These places appear in the official SENATUR tourism directory or on their own website, with what each one offers:

  • Almacén de Sushi – Charles de Gaulle 456. Japanese cooking with traditional technique and a contemporary touch, focused on fresh fish and good rice. Takes reservations and cards, with air conditioning, parking and cocktails (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)). Tip: book ahead for a group on Friday or Saturday.
  • Restaurante Hiroshima – Av. Choferes del Chaco 1803. Over 30 years in Paraguay, from classic rolls to traditional Japanese dishes. Cards, parking and cocktails (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)). Tip: a good pick if someone at the table does not want raw fish.
  • Unaghi Sushi Bar – Cruz del Chaco 830. Open Monday to Sunday, 19:00 to midnight, with dine-in, pick-up and delivery across Greater Asunción. The menu includes vegetarian and vegan rolls, nigiri, sashimi and hot dishes (Unaghi (opens in a new tab)). Tip: evenings only, so not a lunch option.
  • Rich Sushi (Casa Central) – Mcal. López and Capitán Victoriano Bueno. All-you-can-eat sushi, hot dishes and desserts on Fridays from 11:30 to 15:00, Gs. 95,000 per person (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)). Tip: arrive early for the widest choice.
  • Sushi Pop – Av. Santa Teresa, level S2. Rolls, nigiri, woks and creative versions in a relaxed setting for friends. Reservations and parking (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)).
  • Fabric Sushi – Nuestra Señora del Carmen neighbourhood. A brand founded in Buenos Aires in 2008, with creative cooking, delivery and take-away (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)).
  • Sushi Club – Av. Dr. Felipe Molas López 727. Restaurant that takes reservations (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)).

Sushi or a hot dish?

Not every place does both well. For sushi pieces, anywhere on the list works. If someone wants something cooked, check the menu first: Unaghi has hot dishes and cooked rolls, and Hiroshima offers traditional specialities beyond sushi. Vegetarians and vegans will find dedicated rolls at Unaghi.

How much does it cost?

As a guide, Unaghi's website lists a 6-piece Ceviche roll at Gs. 40,000, a 6-piece Atlantis at Gs. 48,000 and the Roll & Roll deal for two at Gs. 190,000. Rich Sushi's Friday buffet is Gs. 95,000 per person. Prices change often, so check the current menu.

How to pay

Almacén de Sushi and Hiroshima take credit and debit cards, according to SENATUR. At Unaghi's restaurant you can pay cash, UenoBank and Eko transfers or QR, Itaú, Visa, Mastercard and Banco Basa cards, Tigo Money and Personal Pay, but delivery is cash only (Unaghi (opens in a new tab)). Have notes ready if you order in.

Japanese plans beyond the restaurant

  • Nihon Matsuri – Saturday 24 October 2026, 16:00 to 23:00, at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (Parque Olímpico, Autopista Ñu Guasú, Luque). A food and culture festival with Japanese dishes, shows and family activities (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)). Tip: it is outside Asunción, so plan the drive along Autopista Ñu Guasú.
  • Centro Paraguayo Japonés – Julio Correa and Dr. Portillo. It hosts Expo Japón-Paraguay, which in 2025 ran on 5–6 September with free entry, tastings, exhibitions and cultural shows (SENATUR (opens in a new tab)). Watch its agenda for each year's edition.

Before you go

  • Book if you are more than four people, especially at weekends.
