Bars and nightlife in Ñemby: where to go and how to get home

What a night out in Ñemby looks like: sunset on the hill, late food, noise and drink-driving rules, and getting home on PY01.

Nightlife in Ñemby is neighbourhood-scale: small bars and restobars spread across both sides of route PY01 rather than one street of clubs. A good plan is to catch the sunset on Cerro Ñemby, have dinner somewhere that stays open late such as Dino Park, and if you want to dance or stay out until the small hours, head to San Lorenzo or Asunción with your ride home already sorted.

What is a night out in Ñemby like?

Ñemby is split in two by route PY01, the former Acceso Sur that links Asunción with Encarnación (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). That shapes the night: bars are scattered through the barrios and most people move by car or bus along the highway. There is no single strip for bar-hopping on foot, so pick one place and check its hours and vibe on Instagram or WhatsApp before you go.

  • To talk: a restobar with outdoor tables, early in the evening and on weekdays.
  • To watch a match: ask whether they show the football and if you should book.
  • To dance: check the venue's weekly line-up, whether there is a cover charge and how late it stays open.

Before dark: sunset on Cerro Ñemby

The hill is the city's best-known outing: about 70 hectares with trails to the top, woodland and a lagoon, some 15 km from Asunción along PY01. It is open 07:00 to 20:00, and from the top you see the town centre and the highway (ABC Color, 2025 (opens in a new tab)).

  • Tip: go up an hour before sunset, bring water and come down before the 20:00 closing. From there you are minutes from the centre for dinner.

Late food: Dino Park

Dino Park is a two-storey burger restaurant themed around dinosaurs, with life-size figures (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). It opens every day from 18:00 to 01:00 (Dino Park on Instagram (opens in a new tab)).

  • Tip: it is more of a dinner spot for friends or families than a cocktail bar, so use it as a first stop.

Meeting point in the centre

Plaza Fulgencio Yegros, opposite the San Lorenzo parish church, has a fountain and a fish pond (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). It is an easy place to meet your group and decide where to go. Plaza Virgen de Schoenstatt, with the skate park, is also in the centre (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)).

Want more going on? San Lorenzo or Asunción

Ñemby borders San Lorenzo, which has a central bar area with draught-beer bars and music venues (La Nación, 2022 (opens in a new tab)). Bus lines 18-1 and 18 Lince run through Ñemby to San Lorenzo and Asunción, and several lines go straight to Asunción, including 15-2, 38 and 47 (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)). Don't count on buses in the small hours: book a ride-hailing car or go with someone who isn't drinking.

Rules worth knowing

Getting there and back on PY01

PY01 is the main road, but the Public Works Ministry plans upgrade works between Cuatro Mojones and Pratt Gill from August 2026, with flyovers in areas including Ñemby (Hoy, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). While they last, allow extra time on a Friday night and ask the venue about alternative access streets.
