In this guide
Lambaré offers two very different nights out: a hotel bar with Paraguay River views at the Yacht & Golf Club Paraguayo, and neighbourhood terraces near Avenida Cacique Lambaré such as Dimas Terraza Bar. Choose by plan (quiet cocktail, grill with friends or a late night) and check the day, since not every bar opens all week.
Where to get a drink in Lambaré
- Mr. Ray at the Yacht & Golf Club Paraguayo. The hotel, at Paseo del Yacht 11, is now a Marriott Tribute Portfolio resort. Its bar, Mr. Ray, serves specialty coffee and signature cocktails and is open daily 10:00–23:00 (Marriott (opens in a new tab)). This is Lambaré's luxury hotel bar: calm and good for conversation. Hotels.com also lists several restaurants and poolside bars at the property (Hotels.com (opens in a new tab)).
- Tatakua at the same hotel. An open-air restaurant with river views, specialising in meat from a traditional clay oven. Open Tuesday–Wednesday 16:00–01:00, Thursday–Saturday 11:00–01:00 and Sunday 11:00–17:00; closed Mondays (Marriott (opens in a new tab)). Good for dinner followed by drinks.
- UNO Pool Bar. The Yacht's poolside bar, with cocktails and river views, runs only in spring and summer, Tuesday to Sunday 11:00–19:00, and closes after Easter (Marriott (opens in a new tab)). An afternoon spot, not a night one.
- Dimas Terraza Bar. An open-air third-floor terrace at José María Aguirre 243, near Cacique Lambaré. The menu has sharing grills, picadas, burgers and pizzas, and drinks include chopp (draft beer), caipiriña, sangría, mojito and gin and tonic (Infonegocios, 2024 (opens in a new tab)). Its Instagram lists Thursday to Saturday, 18:30–02:30 (Instagram (opens in a new tab)).
Which area to choose
- Avenida Cacique Lambaré: the city's main commercial strip, with banks, supermarkets and shopping centres (Infonegocios, 2025 (opens in a new tab)). Local spots to eat and drink are around it, and it is easy to get around by car.
- The Yacht and the riverside: quieter and pricier. Good for a date or a business drink.
- Costanera Sur and Cerro Lambaré: the 8.1 km Costanera Sur avenue runs from Avenida Colón to Cerro Lambaré and includes a 1,000 m linear park with food outlets, playgrounds and an amphitheatre (Última Hora, 2024 (opens in a new tab); ABC Color, 2024 (opens in a new tab)). Good for a sunset before heading out. The hilltop holds the Monumento a la Paz Victoriosa, a lookout over the river (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)).
How to choose a bar in Lambaré
- Plan: for conversation, a hotel bar or an early terrace; for a late night, somewhere that stays open into the early hours on weekends.
- Days: many neighbourhood bars open only Thursday to Saturday. Check their social media first.
- Food: if you plan to eat, ask when the kitchen closes.
- Booking: terraces fill up on hot Fridays and Saturdays; message ahead for groups.
- Payment: ask whether they take cards, QR or bank transfer.
Rules worth knowing
- Age: Paraguay's Law 1642 bans selling, supplying or giving alcohol in public venues to anyone under 20, and you may be asked for ID (Law 1642 (opens in a new tab)).
- Street drinking: the same law bans drinking alcohol on public roads (Law 1642 (opens in a new tab)), so do not take your glass out to the pavement or the Costanera.
- Driving: Paraguayan rules set zero tolerance for blood alcohol for all drivers, with fines of 3 to 20 minimum daily wages, vehicle retention and licence suspension; from 0.251 mg/l the case goes to the Public Prosecutor (Hoy, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). If you drink, take a taxi or a ride-hailing app.
Coming from Asunción
Lambaré sits right on Asunción's southern edge. The Costanera Sur connects central Asunción with Cerro Lambaré (Última Hora, 2024 (opens in a new tab)), so the riverside area is quick to reach from downtown. For Avenida Cacique Lambaré, drive in via the southern avenues and park close to the venue: at night it is better not to walk long blocks.
