For a short stay in Presidente Franco, choose your lodging by what you are there to do: if it is the Saltos del Monday falls, the Parque Monday has cabins and camping inside the park (La Nación, 2026 (opens in a new tab)); if it is shopping or work, look for somewhere near the Ciudad del Este boundary. Before paying, get parking, arrival time and registration confirmed in writing.

Which part of Franco should you stay in?

Franco is small and everything is close, but each area suits a different trip:

Arriving over the Puente de la Integración?

The bridge links Franco with Foz do Iguaçu and has been open since 2025 (La Nación, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). From 14 September 2026 these rules apply (Paraguay's Foreign Ministry (opens in a new tab)):

  • Private cars: only residents of the border towns holding the Documento de Tránsito Vecinal Fronterizo, 7:00 to 13:00.
  • Regular international bus lines: cross only on this bridge, 24 hours a day.
  • Franco–Foz city bus: 7:00 to 19:00, with the border document.

Driving from Brazil without that document means entering over the Puente de la Amistad in Ciudad del Este. Factor that into where you stay and your check-in time.

What to ask before booking

Send a message with these questions and get the answers in writing:

  • Parking: whether it is enclosed, included and big enough for a pickup.
  • Late check-in: when reception closes and how you get in after dark.
  • Final price: in guaraníes, with or without breakfast, and the cancellation terms.
  • Exact location: the map pin, not just "near the falls" or "near the bridge".
  • Weather: Franco gets about 1,718 mm of rain a year and dew and fog are common in winter (Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)); ask about air conditioning and heating and whether the access road is paved.

Apartment or house through an app?

It can work well for groups and families, but check it is legal: alternative lodgings must be registered in Senatur's Registur (La Nación, 2024 (opens in a new tab)). Ask for the registration number, recent photos and the exact address before paying a deposit.

When is demand highest?

How do people pay?

Have your phone ready for QR: in April 2026 it made up 68.1% of electronic payments on the Bancard network (ABC Color, 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Carry a card and some cash too, especially for cabins and small guesthouses.
