To budget for Lambaré, start from net income and add four lines that weigh differently here than in Asunción: rent, which is rising as more people move out of the capital; water in summer; the daily commute along congested avenues; and a health reserve. Once those are set, food and outings are easy to adjust.

What income figure should you work with?

Since 1 July 2026 the minimum wage is G. 3,044,000 a month (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). Employees pay 9% into IPS, the social security fund (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)), which leaves G. 2,770,040 on the minimum. Budget from that, not the gross.

What to check before renting

  • Demand: Lambaré is among the cities where housing demand is growing as people leave Asunción (ABC Color, 2025 (opens in a new tab)). Good places go fast, so have your documents ready.
  • Lease: Paraguay has no specific tenancy law; the deposit is usually one month, a lease with no term is presumed to run one year and there is no cap on increases (Infonegocios (opens in a new tab)). Put the increase in writing.
  • Summer water: in November 2024 residents of barrio Kennedy went more than a day without water after an ESSAP pumping failure at Viñas Cué, and said the same happened the summer before (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). In 2019 a plant failure left barrios such as San Vicente, Santa Lucía, Santa Cecilia and Itá Ybaté without water for four days (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). Ask neighbours how last summer went and whether the house has a tank.
  • Drainage and rain: in mid-2025 the city still lacked sewer and storm drains, with works about to start (Infonegocios (opens in a new tab)), and in 2023 the municipality listed Cacique Lambaré crossings to avoid in flash floods (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). See the house after heavy rain.
  • Electricity: a new single-phase residential connection cost G. 89,745 from ANDE, the state power company, in September 2024 (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). A July 2026 study recommended raising the average tariff by up to 39.4% gradually through 2030 (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)), so leave room in the summer bill when the air conditioning runs all day.

Where can you save on food?

How much to set aside for health?

  • Hospital General de Lambaré: upgraded from district hospital in 2021, with 120 beds and 15 intensive-care beds (La Nación (opens in a new tab)). It has an emergency department, but expect waits.
  • Evening clinics: in 2024 the health ministry included it in its 16:00–22:00 clinic programme, which offers specialties such as paediatrics, general medicine, gynaecology and dentistry; ask which run in Lambaré (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). Useful if you work days.
  • Neighbourhood USF: in May 2026 three new family health units opened in Valle Ybaté, San Roque and La Victoria (IP (opens in a new tab)). Find yours, and still keep a monthly line for medicines.
