Restaurants in San Lorenzo: where to go for lunch and how to choose

For lunch or dinner in San Lorenzo you have three clear areas: downtown around the Cathedral and the pedestrian street, the University area (Villa Universitaria) by the UNA campus and Avenida Mariscal López, and the malls along Ruta PY02. Choose by how much time you have and how you'll get there, because downtown traffic matters more than distance.

Where to have lunch downtown

Downtown San Lorenzo has more than 1,000 registered businesses, but also congestion and hard-to-find parking (Infonegocios, 2024⁠⁠ (opens in a new tab)⁠). If you drive, look for a place with its own parking or park further out and walk.

San Lorenzo mall restaurants

• Shopping Pinedo, on Avenida Mariscal López in the University area.
• San Lorenzo Shopping, on Ruta PY02 around km 15.
• Fuente Shopping and Paseo 14 y medio, among other shopping arcades.

The malls have spread the city's commerce beyond downtown, especially around km 14.5 and 15 (Infonegocios, 2024⁠⁠ (opens in a new tab)⁠). They're the easy choice for groups that can't agree, for families with kids or for rainy days, and parking is usually simpler.

Eating near the UNA campus

Villa Universitaria is home to the UNA campus, the Hospital de Clínicas, Shopping Pinedo and the Ciclovía park (Wikipedia⁠⁠ (opens in a new tab)⁠). It's the place for a quick lunch if you study or work there. When restaurants get busy

• Weekday lunch: set-lunch places fill up with office workers and students.

• Rainy days: mall food courts fill up; a neighbourhood restaurant may be calmer.

• Today's hours: Sundays and holidays differ.
