Entertainment in San Bernardino peaks in summer: concerts at the José Asunción Flores Amphitheatre, free cultural nights at Casa Hassler and Casona Büttner, and by day La Rotonda beach with catamaran rides on Lake Ypacaraí. Out of season, the plan is the Saturday market, the stairway up to the viewpoint and the treetop adventure course.

What shows are on at the José Asunción Flores Amphitheatre?

It is San Ber's big stage, by the lake, and the venue for the summer concerts:

Tip: buy tickets ahead, arrive early to park and plan your way back, because queues build at the exits after a show.

Where are the free cultural nights?

  • Casa Hassler (Avenida Luis F. Vache at Dr. Emilio Hassler). A cultural centre with a library and a museum on the first colonists. In summer 2026 it held its "Noche del Verano" on Saturday 10 January at 21:00, with dance, an art show and live music, and its exhibition was open 08:00 to 19:00 (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)). In February 2026 it opened another group show at 21:00 (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)).
  • Casona Büttner (Colonos Alemanes near Nuestra Señora de la Asunción). The national tourism office, Senatur, runs its summer programme here: in January 2026 there was a painting exhibition, a Cordillera crafts fair, ñandutí lace and basketry workshops and a children's corner, open daily until 21:00 or 22:00 depending on the day (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)).
  • Plaza Bernardino Caballero. The National Symphony Orchestra gave a free concert here on 7 February 2026 (Última Hora (opens in a new tab)).

What can you do by the lake during the day?

Avenida Luis F. Vache cycle path. About 3 km along the lake to Avenida Guillermo Naumann, for cycling or walking (ABC Color, 2020 (opens in a new tab)).

Note: the municipal beach has an environmental licence, but the environment ministry (https://www.abc.com.py/nacionales/2024/12/25/atencion-veraneantes-playa-de-san-bernardino-esta-habilitada-pero-no-la-de-aregua/) says this does not mean the lake is fit for swimming (ABC Color (opens in a new tab)). Catamaran and sand, yes; going into the water, no.

Is there anything more adventurous?

Aventura Xtrema runs a 14-obstacle treetop course, canoeing, an 8 m climbing wall, archery and a pendulum swing from a 14 m tower on the amphitheatre grounds (Infonegocios, 2021 (opens in a new tab)). Última Hora (opens in a new tab) listed it in 2023 among holiday options for children, and ABC Color (opens in a new tab) noted that it works by reservation. Ask about prices and minimum age when you book.
